Rahuri town is located at 19 0 7'Latitude and 74 0 15'Longitude. The town is located in the North Eastern part of Ahmednagar District, Maharashtra ( India ).
It is well connected by road to Mumbai (240 km) Aurangabad (120 km), Pune (140 Km) and the district headquarter Ahmednagar (37 km). It is connected by broad gauge railway to the above places as it falls on the Manmad – Daund route.
The nearest airport is at Aurangabad (120 kms), which is linked to Mumbai. Pune is another airport located close by. Rahuri is located on a fairly even terrain at an altitude of 500m above sea level. It is situated on the banks of the Mula River and the entire town is part of the Mula watershed. Prior to the construction of the Mula Dam in the 1960s the old settlement frequently faced problems of flooding. However the incidence has almost reduced to nil after the construction of the dam. The predominant soil cover in the district is medium black to deep black calcareous formed with varying depth and texture. This is very good for agriculture and irrigation.
Ahmednagar district population is 4040642 with 80 % people staying in rural villages. Ahmednagar the district headquarters is the largest urban area in the district. Rahuri Taluka has two urban areas Rahuri Town and Deolali Pravra Town the boundaries of both are contiguous.
